The Pakhra River rises about fifty kilometers from Moscow. This watercourse flows into the Moskva River, of which it is a tributary. Its flow is unstable after the winter thaw, and the sand accumulated over the years contributes to its winding course. Apart from the densely populated urban areas, the landscapes crossed by this river are typical of the European countryside and possess an essentially bucolic character.
