“The Burren” is located in the west of Ireland. It is a region in County Clare that attracts many tourists. There, you can discover the Cliffs of Moher, several archaeological sites, and the Burren National Park. The national park is fascinating—its geological formation evokes a lunar landscape.
I wrote this Celtic-inspired waltz following our stay in this region. One May morning, we had breakfast in the village of Corofin at the Morning Dew café. While there, a traditional music session was taking place with fiddle, guitar, bass, and tin whistle. The atmosphere was festive and warm—the café was full.
What enchanted me most about this trip was hearing this folk music, which is so present in everyday life.
This piece is meant to be simple, in the spirit of traditional Irish sessions.
Music rooted in our heritage must remain alive, and I take this opportunity to thank all Quebecers for keeping our roots alive and vibrant.
