Description

The suite “Cactustown” is inspired by cartoon music. Since childhood, I have always enjoyed watching animated films adapted from comic books. For this suite, the inspiration comes from the Lucky Luke films.

Cactustown is the prelude, shaped as a horseback ride through the town. The Saloon of Cactustown is the allemande, written as a ragtime played on the saloon piano. The Duel of Cactustown is the deadly sarabande, with its “Colt” gunshots illustrated by Bartók pizzicatos. Finally, The Escape takes the form of a fugue.
