Loïsa Puget, the queen of the French romance, composed approximately 250 romances for voice and piano, almost all of them set to lyrics by her husband, the author Gustave Lemoine.
Many of these romances were arranged for voice and guitar. The arrangers featured in this collection are Matteo Carcassi, Joseph Vimeux, and Antoine and Joseph Meissonnier. The original editions (published between 1829 and 1855) are adorned with beautiful illustrations on the cover.
