Description

Guit. I-IV, cb. This, the last movement from Children'sCorner haslong been a favourite with guitar ensembles, having beenvariously arranged for two, three, four and now five guitars. Once again the use of a requinto would have avoided the need for certain passages to be compressed, but the bass, this time, gets plenty to do. Dynamic indications are given but articulation marks are again deemed unnecessary. Having now seen four of the movements from Children's Corner I would be curious to see Levesque's arrangements of the remaining two, Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum and The Snow is Dancing, my own personal favourites from the suite. These publications will find favour with some guitar society ensembles and the like but the many (in the UK at least) that now possess the full range of orchestral guitars will need to look elsewhere for their repertoire.
