Description

Program Notes

Prelude and Stomp is written for solo pick-style electric guitar. The piece explores the connection between solo instrumental repertoire associated with concert music and the virtuoso guitarists from Rock and Metal traditions.

Performance Notes

Performers should approach this piece with flexibility and artistic freedom. Repeated passages can be omitted or expanded. The fingerings I provided are suggestions. Performers should feel free to explore their own creative solutions while maintaining (or improving) the intent of the musical gesture.

Prelude and Stomp should be performed with a pick. I generally use a clean Fender-style amp with a subtle spring reverb setting. However, performers are encouraged to find unique tone settings when performing this piece.
