This composition is dedicated to the brilliant UK guitarist John Mills. John has, for many years, been an inspiration to many guitarists and has been a great champion of the classic Spanish guitar repertoire. He has kept alive the spirit of Segovia in his beautiful, delicate and poetic interpretations of the music by Albeniz, Granados, Tarrega, Turina, Torroba and many more. Johns considered use of tone colour and exquisite technique has always been an inspiration to me.
This composition of mine shares the same sort of musical sensibilities found in much of the music by the composers I have mentioned. I therefore could hear John Mills playing this work and treating it with the same degree of thought, to colour and poetic nuance, which he brings to the Spanish repertoire. Hence the dedication to one of the UK’s greatest exponents of the art of playing the Classical guitar.
Although the music may not have the gravitas of the aforementioned composers it still, I believe, conveys a certain Spanish charm.
