"A typical offering these days from this prolific composer (this is his opus 286); that is, a sentimental, slightly predictable melody line above broken chords. Chanson pour Isabelle is quite an attractive miniature in a slow, compound-duple time giving the impression of a waltz. The melody line soars into the higher regions of the guitar and due to the chord progression underneath, this raises the standard of this 'simple-sounding' piece to the Intermediate level. It is all very charming and appealing but with no real surprises. [...] The score is nicely presented and there is adequate fingering [...]."
