To one of my good friends from Granada, the clarinetist Francisco Gil Valencia—an excellent composer and director of the higher conservatory of that city—I felt I had to return the favor, in gratitude for the piece he had dedicated to me with the same title, but for solo piano.
From the very first bars, Andaluza immediately brings us into the landscapes of Andalusia and its music, which is easily recognizable through its cadence, known as the Andalusian cadence: (A – G – F – E).
This piece, in addition to the musical pleasure it gives when played, offers a technical foundation that is essential for performing the majority of works written for classical guitar.
