Description

As one of the most recognisable tangos of all time, Gerardo Matos Rodríguez’s La Cumparsita has been performed and recorded in hundreds of different versions. Originally written as a march in 1916 in Uruguay, the melody later became hugely popular through a vocal recording by Tito Schipa. Stephen Goss’s version is written in the style of the Tango Nuevo movement, which came to prominence in Argentina in the 1980s and 90s.
This arrangement of La Cumparsita was commissioned by Deutsche Grammophon for Miloš Karadaglić. It has been recorded by Miloš on Latino (Deutsche Grammophon 0289 479 0063 4 © 2012).
