"[...] Beings has three movements: the first is called Minotaur which has a menacing atmosphere pervading throughout; Sylphs is a delicate, ethereal composition the main feature of which are the harmonics which make up a large percentage of the work. There is some nice harmonic 'dialogue' between the players which will require very careful rehearsing. The final movement is Salamander and this is in the style of a moto perpetuo piece with the trance-inducing rhythm (in 7/8 time) carrying on for its duration. This accessible contemporary piece has much to interest both players and audiences alike. There are many good moments to savour, and due to the composer's instructions in the first movement where free experiment is encouraged with regard to the various sound effects required, (squeaks, scrapes, etc) each performance may be far removed from other performances. The standard required to do justice to this piece is of the advanced level. The work is featured on the Kithara Duo's debut CD and this edition comes with full score and separate parts for each player."
