Born 1949 in Umeå, Sweden, Jan-Olof Eriksson graduated from the Gothenburg Conservatory with a masters degree in fine arts and pedagogy. He obtained his diploma in 1972, and made his debut the same year. Since 1974 he is Professor of Guitar at the Luleå University of Technology, School of Music in Piteå. He has performed in solo recitals and with chamber ensembles throughout Scandinavia and Europe. Jan-Olof is regularly invited as a teacher and a lecturer in international guitar and music festivals. In 1994 he was invited to conduct the guitar orchestra at the Guitar Foundation of America festival in Quebec City, Canada. He is a prolific composer and arranger for guitar solo, for guitar and other instruments, and also for guitar ensemble and orchestra. Jan-Olof has been published by several publishers including Warner-Chapell Music Scandinavia, VISS Musikförlag, Notposten, Tuscany Publications, Guitarissimo Publications and Doberman-Yppan. His publications are recorded and performed widely.
