Description

Camilo Juan Verga, born on October 29, 1982, in Buenos Aires, is an Argentine guitarist and composer celebrated for his award-winning achievements. He has earned 31 awards, including 13 international first prizes in guitar performance in countries such as Italy, Spain, Uruguay, and Argentina, with one prestigious prize won in competition with soloists from all instruments. His compositions have also been recognized internationally; his piece 19:05. 5' antes del nacimiento de Apolo received first prize at the Manuel de Falla International Guitar Composition Competition (Spain), while his Sonata Onírica took second prize at the Claxica competition (Italy).

Camilo completed his initial music studies with Cristina Dueñas at the National University of Cuyo and later graduated with a degree in Musical Arts (guitar) from the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires under the guidance of Graciela Pomponio and Javier Bravo. He also studied composition with Fernando Maglia.

Camilo’s discography includes Onírico (2017), featuring his own guitar works written between 2000 and 2014, Molto Legato (2014), which showcases pieces from classical, romantic, and modern composers, and Heitor Villa-Lobos: Obra Integral para Guitarra Sola (2010). His music has been widely broadcast by Radio Nacional Clásica in Argentina, Emisora del Sur in Uruguay, and Radio Vaticana in Italy, among others.

Since 2008, Camilo has served as a professor of classical guitar at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes and, since 2009, at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires. He frequently performs across America and Europe at renowned festivals, including the International Guitar Festival Rust (Austria), Salento Guitar Festival (Italy), Villa Navas de San Juan International Classical Music Festival (Spain), and Guitarras del Mundo Festival (Argentina). In addition, he has been invited as both a teacher and jury member for guitar competitions and has judged for the Internet Music Competition organized by MIR Production (Serbia) since 2015.
