A part au troisième mouvement (Rondotango con swing) où une influence typiquement «pop» est reconnaissable dans la marche harmonique et le placement des accents, cette pièce reste résolument classique : le premier mouvement est un Allegretto de Sonatina (de forme sonate), et le néo-classicisme des thèmes se retrouve dans le deuxième mouvement Largo nostalgico. Malgré cela, l'appellation se justifie par des effets de main droite et une facilité d'harmonie qui permet un déroulement léger - mais loin d'être simpliste. Une mélodie est ainsi constamment présente sous des genres rythmiques d'accompagnements très diversifiés et engageants. Fraîche et réussie, c'est une pièce intéressante à voir à partir d'un niveau confirmé. Sonatina Pop is a cyclic work consisting of three separate movements: First-Allegretto con distacco aristocratico, Second-Largo nostalgico, and the Third-Rondo tango con swing. The first two movements are in A-major and the last one is in A-minor. Each starts with a nice and very original theme. The first one in Allegro moderato tempo opens with two bars of an «ironica eleganza« theme, which is then incorporated into three divided sections: Ironico, Piu. lento, and Tempo primo. The second movement starts with Ad libitum-nine bars of a nostalgic melody in a high register, varied later in a Ritmico part filled with characteristic triplets and syncopations, and with a strong influence from bossa nova. The third movement probably has the strongest elements of jazz. The fast opening with a repeatablerondo conception, turns in a characteristic «all tango« part. The music is of a complex structure but very clear. We find an abundance of harmonics, ornaments and various percussive effects, all explained in the technical comments included. This nice piece from d'Oz (Alberto Vingiano's collection) can be highly recommended. (Uros Dojcinovic Belgrade, Soundboard Fall 2000)
