In Six Noels de Provence there are five pieces from the 17th century and one from 1850. With the exception of a few places in guitar 4, all the parts contain single note passages and as nothing ventures into rhythmically difficult territory it makes these hugely entertaining pieces well within the grasp of a good grade 4 quartet. There are some good tunes here (including the Folias theme) and anv group with a liking for early music cannot fail to enjoy these little gems. The presentation is excellent and there are separate parts as well as a full score. (Steve Marsh, Classical Guitar, 12/2000)
