Esperanza was written in 2002 and is a vivacious and exciting work with a really nice feel-good factor surrounding it. The 4/4 rhythm played in groups of 3:3:2 thrusting the music ever forward in a folky stylistic fashion until suddenly out of the blue comes a delightful Samba still keeping the rhythmic impetus going. This is an excellent addition to the student repertoire of around grade 5-6 and one, which would be enjoyed by many if given the chance to play it.
