Description

"Rhapsody is a colourful work written in a contemporary vein without venturing too much into avant-garde territory. It is a piece of many characters and moods with the various contrasting episodes blending neatly from one to the other without breaks. The various divisions range from passionate and lyrical through to fiery and 'disturbing' but all hold interest and are well written. The sudden and unexpected appearance of a titled section called Pavan for a Beloved Princess - which seemingly pays slight homage to Maurice Ravel in title and style - is one of the highlights of this work. A short snippet from this section eventually finalises the work in a serene and relaxed marmer. For enthusiasts of modern guitar music this lengthy work would make for an interesting and exciting project to work through for the advanced player. See if you can spot the deliberate mistake on the front cover! The same front cover was used for all his other publications by this publisher. Methinks that this man has a sense of humour."
