"This is a set of 15 short and not too difficult pieces that share a common style of having a hint of the 'popular' about them, and are written in a friendly style whilst being bright and tuneful and immediate in their emotional content. A typical piece is the opening one in A minor, in two voices for the most part, (very occasionally in three), and which manages to stay in first position for its entirety. Interestingly this one and the other have no speed markings whatsoever, which in the absence of any introductory notes I take to mean that it doesn't matter what speed you play them, as long as you do keep the constant beat. A number of them are written in straight quavers but one is to swing the rhythms as if they were in triplets but that instruction is becoming quite common nowadays, so that should not faze too many players. If there is a ' but' coming it is because a few of them are a bit twee and the happy and friendly harmonies become a little bit overpowering after 15 of them. Nevertheless, they are easily played by modest guitarists and I could see a small suite of a number of them working really well in recitals."
