Description

Simone Cutuli is a guitarist, teacher and performer active in the concert, recording and publishing fields. Having graduated with top marks, First Class Honours and a Special Mention from the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatoire in Milan, he continued his studies at the “Domenico Cimarosa” Conservatoire, where he obtained his Postgraduate Master’s degree, graduating with top marks, First Class Honours and a Special Mention. A prize-winner in national and international competitions, he regularly features in concerts and festivals in Italy and abroad, both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles. Alongside this, he maintains a busy recording career: the album Istinto, released in 2026, is a clear example of his distinctive artistic personality. His artistic activity is accompanied by research into the repertoire, developed through collaboration with composers and the creation of his own transcriptions. It is precisely within this exploration that his work on the music of Johannes Brahms is situated. His work on Johannes Brahms’s Intermezzi stems precisely from this intersection of interpretation and research. Transcribing the Intermezzi has meant engaging with the most intimate essence of Brahms’s late music and questioning what the guitar could convey of that composition. This research aims to recreate, through the instrument’s timbral possibilities, the harmonic depth, lyricism and extraordinary expressiveness of these pieces.
