Description

Over the past two decades, Randall Avers has contributed to the European and American classical guitar landscape as a performer, composer, adjudicator and educator. He is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, University of Arizona, and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris where he received unanimous first prize in guitar performance and first prize in Chamber music. His performance accolades include two prizes in The Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) International Competition, top prizes in the Yamaha France Competition and Concours international de guitare René Bartoli. He is the recipient of the Presser Award and Norwegian Statens Kunstnerstipend, and toured North Africa and Egypt as an American Cultural Ambassador. 

Avers has released seven complete albums of which three are solo recordings, three with guitarist Benoît Albert under the pseudonym “Les Frères Méduses” and one improvisation album with Trond Hugo Ahlsen. He frequently performs in Europe/US as a chamber musician and instructs classes on a variety of performance perspectives, ranging from masterclass to improvisation with Silent Film. 

Randall Avers resides in Horton, Norway with his wife, Line, and three children and instructs guitar at the Asker Kulturskole.
