Argentine musician, winner of awards in competitions both as a guitarist and for his works. Among his 31 awards, there are 13 international First Prizes in interpretation obtained in Italy, Spain, Uruguay and Argentina, one of them competing against soloists of all instruments. In composition, his work 19:05. 5' antes del nacimiento de Apolo won the Manuel de Falla International Guitar Composition Competition (Spain) and his Sonata Onírica obtained the Second Prize in the Claxica competition (Italy). Camilo Juan Verga was born on October 29, 1982 in Buenos Aires. He began his academic studies with Cristina Dueñas at the School of Music of the National University of Cuyo in Mendoza, completing his undergraduate degree in 2000. He continued as a student of Graciela Pomponio and in 2006 he graduated with a degree in Musical Arts (guitar) from the National University of the Arts (formerly the Carlos López Buchardo National Conservatory) in Buenos Aires under the tutelage of Javier Bravo. He studied composition with Fernando Maglia. In 2024 he graduated from the Catholic University of Argentina with a PhD in Music with his thesis Intertextuality in Contemporary Musical Composition for Guitar . He received masterclasses from international guitarists such as Angelo Gilardino, David Russell, Thomas Müller-Pering, Aniello Desiderio, Alvaro Pierri, Elena Papandreou, Carlo Marchione, among many others, in Uruguay, Bolivia, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Serbia and Romania. In 2010 he took the guitar improvement course at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy, being distinguished by maestro Oscar Ghiglia with the Diploma of Merit and a study scholarship. Camilo's discography includes the albums Onírico (2017) with his own works for guitar written between 2000 and 2014, Molto Legato (2014) with classical, romantic and modern authors and Heitor Villa-Lobos: Obra Integral para Guitarra Sola (2010). Previously, between 2006 and 2007, he participated in the recording of two albums as a result of awards in competitions and another live album produced by the Círculo Guitarrístico Argentino. His music has been broadcast by Radio Nacional Clásica (Argentina), Emisora del Sur (Uruguay) and Radio Vaticana (Italy), among others. Since 2008 he has worked as a professor of classical guitar in the Department of Musical Arts of the Universidad Nacional de las Artes and since 2009 at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires. He performs regularly in halls and theatres in America and Europe, having participated in the International Guitar Festival Rust (Austria), Salento Guitar Festival (Italy), Villa Navas de San Juan International Classical Music Festival (Spain), Guitarras del Mundo Festival (Argentina), María Luisa Anido International Guitar Festival (Agentina), La Roseta del Plata International Festival and Seminar (Argentina), Puntah Classical Guitar Festival (Argentina), Girona International Festival (Spain), Cuerdas del Río de la Plata Festival (Uruguay) and Villa de Aranda International Guitar Festival (Spain), being also invited to the latter as a teacher and jury member of the competition. Since 2015 he has been invited by MIR Production (Serbia) to be part of the jury of the Internet Music Competition.
