Description

Born in Cap-Santé, close to Quebec City, Alain Perron studied oboe and composition in Trois-Rivières and Québec. In 1989, he obtained a masters degree at Laval University after studying with François Morel. He obtained grants from the Canadian and Quebec Provincial governments to continue his PhD studies in Poland with Krzysztof Penderecki and Marek Stachowski. In 1989 he won First Prize in the Sir Ernest MacMillan contest for his work Dorléac. His work Séquences voilées for orchestra won also First Prize of the New Music Festival du Maurier Arts Ltd 1993 in Winnipeg. This work has been recorded on CD with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and has also been selected as well as his Double éclat, for a CD recording on the Vienna Master Series with the Polish Radio and TV Symphony Orchestra of Krakow.
