Here is another tuneful ditty from French composer Erik Marchelie whose compositions in my experience exhibit charm, lyricism and attractiveness. Nocturne is a leisurely composition having for the most part a plaintive air flowing over a sequence of arpeggios with a couple of short-lived solo guitar sequences. For variety the piece goes through several key changes: G minor, Bb minor, E major and E minor. The melody gets a little predictable after a while but the piece doesn't outstay its welcome and, after all, the tune is rather nice. Technical standard is around the mid-grade mark. The presentation is good and the edition comes with full score and separate part for the flute, the guitarist having to read directly from the score.
