Description

Per Sofia uses the 'scordatura' tuning of, from bass upwards, F, A, D, A, Bb, D but for ease of reading the score is presented in standard tuning. The consequence of this altered tuning gives the opening arpeggios the effect of church bells and this impression is maintained through a large portion of the composition. Over and above these ripples of notes emerges an appealing melody, at times quite dramatic and at other times somewhat plaintive and emotive. The end result is a highly attractive, three-minute work very suitable for use in any recital situation; it would be a tough audience who would not be charmed by this lovely work. The piece is suitable for the Grade 7+ player and the score is clearly presented and all well fingered.
