A delicate opening, the main feature of which being artificial harmonics, begins the delightfully pleasant Prelude et Valse composed by-the French guitarist Gilbert Clamens. The “prelude” section continues with a romantic Andante cantabile with a gorgeous, slightly lugubrious bass melody line which leads into a more optimistic waltz of great charm. Melodic throughout and skillfully written for this standard - around Intermediate - this is a lovely addition to the repertoire and one hopes it will get taken up by teachers and performers alike.
