Description

Erik Marchelie very rarely fails to come up with something delightfully melodic or harmonically interesting, or indeed both, and D'un Soleil, la Nuit... scores on both counts and is a very attractive new addition to the flute and guitar repertoire. The work is in two parts with the slow, moody, improvisational sounding opening section contrasting nicely with the concluding, quicker part. The style throughout, which very often takes the form of a dialogue between the two instruments, is very Debussy-like and in the right hands this piece could be one of the memorable parts of any recital.
