The work use excerpts of Clarivigilia Primaveral (Clearvigil in Spring), a Mayan Myth written by Guatemalan writer and poet Miguel Angel Asturias (1899-1974). Texts in Spanish used with the permission of Miguel Angel Asturias Amado.

The authorized English translation of Clarivigilia Primaveral was made by Robert W. Lebling, published by Pennylesse Editions at Smashwords, Copyright © 2011 by Robert W. Lebling. Used with the permission of the translator.

Nazcan was premiered by the San Francisco Conservatory Guitar Ensemble at the Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, conducted by David Tanenbaum on January 14, 2016.
