Patchwork is a small suite of pieces suitable for the Intermediate student guitarist. Possibly the most melodically satisfying of the group comes with the opening Preludio, a movement which is both very «French« and also lyrically attractive, and contains more than a shade of that most melodious of composers, Francis Kleynjans. The next movement, Pinata is an unremarkable, brief waltz followed by the slowest (but the most technically difficult) one of the set, a passionate and poignant composition titled Alma. Mariposa brings this set to a vigorous and joyful conclusion. The presentation is excellent and once again the cover is graced with the wonderful artwork of Swiss artist Corina Sierk.
