Description

Arctic Suite was written for the Norwegian guitarist, Arne Brattland, in 1993, which marked 150 years since Edvard Grieg's birth. Brattland commissioned a new piece based on folk tunes from the area of Norway, Mo i Rana, near to the Arctic Circle. The first movement includes two themes from the Rana district, the second movement features a lullaby from Hattfjelldal, the third movement, the tune Gammelmoster, from Rana and finally, a dance (Pols) from Dunderlandsdalen, soon interrupted by a drinking song.
