Description

Alborada del gracioso (Morning song of the jester) is the fourth piece from Ravel’s set of five virtuoso piano pieces Miroirs. Ravel made a spectacular orchestration of the piece in 1918 and this arrangement draws on both the original piano version and the later orchestral version. Alborada de gracioso is infused with the flavours and colours of Andalusian folk music, Ravel often imitating the guitar in flamboyant, intricate, and sometimes grotesque musical gestures.

This arrangement was commissioned by ChromaDuo for the Naxos CD
