Description

"Here is another composer who, in my estimation, is yet to write a bad note. This latest duet is firmly Latin in style and as often is the case with this style borders on jazz at times. Both players have to be really quite good and used to syncopated rhythms in lots of differing combinations. That said though this piece is lots of fun and as the melody and accompaniment often swap sides throughout the work numerous time both players get a fair share of the musical action, and both have to be equally proficient. The jazz element, never very far away in this music, really takes centre stage at bar 28 and following where guitar 2 has what can only be described as an extended seemingly (but not actually) improvised solo over the syncopated chords of guitar one. This is a fun piece that deserves to be played and enjoyed by guitarists and audiences alike. So if this man's name is new to you, take a flyer and look through his back catalogue, because if he has written a bad work, I have yet to see it."
