Treffos is a small school in North Wales. I was supposed to teach there but my car broke down. I spent the day composing this instead.
It’s written for an intermediate standard quartet and is motoric (my car wasn’t!) whilst also being huge fun to play. My quartet members always loved it and it was in the repertoire every time we performed. There is evidence of tritonal thinking but it just adds spice to the harmonic seasoning.
‘Can you play that again please?’ was a common request. A composition to bring smiles to players and listeners alike.
