Description

David Gaudreau's Air de Vacances is a charming, short solo. It has an air of being the sort of tune which one would whistle or hum, being of a carefree, lilting character. An eight-bar lento introduction is follow by a moderato which remains the general marking for the remainder of the piece. Dynamic markings are scarce but the composer's shaping of his melody gives adequate indication of what is possible. Technically there is nothing for the fingers to stumble over, the notes being laid out easily under the hands. The charm of the music is in making it sound simple and direct, giving a worthwhile challenge and subsequently (one hopes) satisfying result.
