"This collection of very easy pieces by the South African guitarist Kayla Slabbert is a mixed bag of fortune. On the positive side it contains 20 short, titled pieces which could supplement any tutor book the beginner guitarist is working through. The pieces are all in first position and are, in the main, of the melody-over-bass-notes variety, and with just two exceptions use no accidentals. They would be useful exercises in reinforcing the learning of the notes, counting, damping unwanted notes, stretching across the strings and legato; and of course the book could be utilised as sight reading material.
