Description

« ...Le point fort absolu (du concert de Zoran Dukic) fut toutefois la pièce presque «jazzé» Lullaby for Sarah de Simone Iannarelli, dominée par ses harmoniques fragiles et châtoyantes... »
Tobias Blum (General-Anzeiger Tageszeitung, Bonn)

Iannarelli is fond of the scordatura 6 to D, 5 to B flat. and uses it here. It's not that hard to get used to but it does inevitably raise the threshold of interest and demand even more than usual that any extra work be justified. The overall mood is suitably restful but there are moments of stronger sonority, and the language used is lightly jazzy. No dynamics apart from a decrescendo hairpin are provided so the sound has to be deduced from the content and some occasional instructions. Realistically, only upper grade players are going to get to grips with this. The composer has an individual voice and uses the tuning wisely, and this would be a suitable extension to the collection for players already interested in his work (.).
