Description

5 pieces celebrating the music of Sor and Carcassi
Although these five solo guitar studies pay tribute to the compositional styles of the 19th century instructive works of Sor and Carcassi, they are very much modern in their construction and any student of around the upper intermediate level who is looking for new, well-written and enjoyable pieces to improve aspects of technique such as arpeggios, rapid right hand finger alternation, fingerboard exploration, etc., could do far worse than consider this new release.
Of particular note are the final two studies titled Repeated Notes, which the composer says tries to capture the exuberance of the celebrated Carcassi Study in A minor and Secondary Thoughts, which demonstrates the composer's more lyrical side.
Altogether a highly satisfying small set of modern guitar studies.
