Has anyone noticed the beautiful front covers which are appearing on some editions from these publishers? If so, they are probably the work of the Swiss artist Corina Sierk and examples of her work can be found by going to the publisher's web site and clicking on «Other Products« - well worth a look!
And now back to the music. La Ballade des Amoureux is an unashamedly sentimental piece, full of lovely melodic lines and some delicious harmony. Here is a composer who knows when to turn it on and when to turn it off; the lengthy stretch of lyricism is just about to get a tad tedious when a sudden change in tempo and style breaks the mood and the music takes an abrupt change of direction and is all the more better for this interlude.
This is a very nice piece and l had a lot of pleasure working through it. For any players who like a good tune and are of around a grade 6 standard, it may be worth a try.
