Pavane pour un roi oublié

During the funerals of the king Michael of Romania, in December 2017, I decided to write a work for solo guitar in order to tell the whole world about this great man, maybe the last Romanian king. Due to the fact that the guitar has a rich tradition, I considered that it was appropiate to compose a Pavan which will reveal the deepness of my feelings on this subject. Our’s king life was full of dramatic events and many details are still to be discussed. The comunist regim, brought by the Soviet Union, blackmailed the young Michael in 1947 in order to force him to abdicate and leave his country. From 1948 until 1989, the comunists erased all the details about our king from all the history books. My grandfather, who fought in the World War II, told me a lot about the king Michael and about how important his contribution was, to end this global conflict. For my generation, the king Michael was the only one able to lead our country. Even if he’s gone, we hope that one day the monarchy will be back in Romania...
