Description

Capriccio stravagante by Carlo Farina (ca.1604-1639) is a menagerie of dances and musical imitations of animals and instruments. It exploits a full range of virtuosic violin techniques that translate perfectly to guitar as tambora, golpe, pizzicato, rasqueado and snare drum effect. It is a bizarre, whimsical piece that closes with a raucous “Spanish guitar” section and leaves audiences smiling.
