Here ls a tiny suite of six very simple pieces alI in the 'Western' manner. So you get Les Cowboys which is a piece in two easy voices going no further than fret three, followed by Oncle Tom, which has a seesawlike motion in quavers in the top voice to mimic Oncle Tom balancing on his rocking chair. Again nothing more dlfficult than fret three is required. Then Totem which although in two voices, takes you up to fret 12 in the top part, whilst retaining simple open notes for the majority of the lower voice. And so it goes on. The final three pieces are equalIy entertaining for the younger element and are aIl in two voices and go no higher than the third fret. Any teacher of young children wilI find this set quite useful, as the muslc is unhackneyed throughout, and yet manages to retain lts 'western' element. Nicely done.
