Along with Telemann's violin solos, the solo flute pieces have formed the basis of several previous arrangements, and with the practice of realising an implied continuo bass being well established in the baroque period, there is absolutely no problem with this idea. Everything here works fine with the arranger showing a sympathetic and stylistically aware approach including various suitable harmonic devices.
