Episodes comprises two pieces, each of a didactic character. Il était une fois has a delicate song-like quality and is a delight to play from start to finish. There are some quite emotionally moving passages in this brief work and I could weIl see this appearing in informal concerts and the like; it's the same technical standard as the first piece but of a much higher musical level.
A congratulatory word ought to be given here to Les Productions D'Oz for their «new« cover designs. For years their covers have remained more or less of a constant design with just the colour changing every now and again. ln the last few editions I have reviewed from this publishing house their front covers have become much more stylish and interesting. This particular edition has a lovely and eyecatching photograph of a meadow. WeIl done!
